A Brief Biography: Ayatollah Dr. Sayyid Fadhil Al-Milani
Ayatollah Dr Sayyid Fadhil H Al-Milani was born in Holy City of
Kerbala in year 1944. His paternal grandfather is the late Grand
Ayatollah Sayyid Mohamed Hadi Al-Milani and his maternal
grandfather is the late Ayatollah Sayyid Mohammed Sadiq Qazwini.

Fadhil Al-Milani studied the religious studies in the Holy City of
Najaf under the late
Grand
Ayatollah
Sayyid Mohsin Al Hakim from the year 1968 to 1970 and under late
Grand
Ayatollah
Sayyid Abul Qassim
Al Khoei from 1962 to 1970.
Whist in Najaf, Ayatollah Fadhil Al-Milani taught Jurisprudence,
Principles of Jurisprudence and theology at the College of Fiqh
for two years and in the Hawza of Najaf for eight years. In the
year 1971, Ayatollah Fadhil Al-Milani migrated to Mash'had and
completed his studies under the guidance of Late Grand Ayatollah
Sayyid Mohamed Hadi Al-Milani for five years, bringing to the year
1975. During this time, Ayatollah Fadhil Al-Milani was attending
the highest assembly of fatwa held under the guidance of the Late
Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Mohamed Hadi Al-Milani. In the year 1974,
Ayatollah Fadhil Al-Milani was recognised as a Mujtahid in the
Holy City of Mash'had. This work of Ijtihad has been published in
seven volumes which are currently used in the hawza of Mash'had
and Qum. The title of this work is Lectures on Immamiyah
Jurisprudence.
Ayatollah Sayyid Fadhil Al-Milani has been honoured with the
following academic qualifications:

B. A. in Islamic studies from the
College of Fiqh, Najaf in the year 1966

B. A. in Law from the School of
Law, Beirut, Lebanon in the year 1967

M. A. in Arabic Literature from
the University of Baghdad, Iraq in the year 1970
-
PhD in Islamic Philosophy from
Oxford University in the year 1994
-
Professor entitlement from the
University of Amman, Jordon.
Ayatollah Sayyid Fadhil Al-Milani has thirty years of experience
in teaching Islamic studies, especially Fiqh, Usul and Aqaed.
Hereunder is the brief account of the teaching years:

From 1965 - 1970 in The Holy City
of Najaf

From 1971 - 1982 in The Hawza of
Mesh 'had

From 1983 - 1986 in the Hawza of
Sayyidah Hazrat Bibi Zainab (AS)

From 1987 until the present year
in London at various centres like International Colleges for
Islamic Studies; Islamic College for Advance Studies; The Muslim
College and the Students of Hawza.
Ayatollah Sayyid Fadhil Al-Milani has so far written and published
seven books in Arabic and one in Persian. These books have been
pre-printed several times to do it demand. Currently Ayatollah
Sayyid Fadhil Al-Milani is writing two books in English language
entitled Islamic Philosophy and An Introduction to Islamic Civil
Law which will be published very soon.
Ayatollah Sayyid Al-Milani was appointed as the representative of
the Late Ayatollah Sayyid Abul Qassim Al Khoei in the United
Kingdom and is currently authorised on behalf of Grand Ayatollah
Sayyid Ali Sistani.
The
long experience of Ayatollah Sayyid Fadhil Al-Milani in the field
of Islamic law and the number of students who have been trained
under him, the books written by him on the subject of Islamic
Jurisprudence support his authority as a Faqih and a Mujtahed.
Apart from lecturing in the Colleges and Hawza, Ayatollah Sayyid
Fadhil Al-Milani has been invited to present his papers in
International seminars such as;

Religious held in USA. (Due to late arrival of the visa, his
contribution was by sending his papers to the conference )

Islam held in Amman, Jordon

1994: Conference of Social Welfare
in Islam held in Amman, Jordon

1998 : The Alawi Conference held
in Istanbul, Turkey

1999 : Conference for Ijtehad in
Islam held in Muscat, Oman
Ayatollah Dr Sayyid Fadhil Al-Milani is the Dean of International
Colleges for Islamic Studies, London.
Currently Ayatollah Dr Sayyid Fadhil Al-Milani is supervising
students who are compiling their theses for PhD in Islamic
studies.
